Auckland International Airport Limited Parking – Terms and conditions of entry

By entering our Car Park facilities you agree to pay the parking charges as displayed at the entrance to each Car Park and to abide by these Terms and Conditions and you agree to comply with all rules or directions displayed in the Car Park and to comply with all relevant laws.

The use of our Car Park facilities is at your own risk in every respect and you release us and our employees and contractors fully from any liability for loss or damage to your Vehicle or any other possessions howsoever caused. While we take reasonable care to keep all Car Parks we own or operate safe, we cannot guarantee the security of your Vehicle or its contents.

By using our Car Park facilities, you warrant that you are the owner or the authorised agent of the owner of the Vehicle and agree to indemnify us and our employees and contractors against any damage caused to any other vehicle or the Car Park as a result of your use of the Vehicle and the Car Park, including but not limited to damage caused by the leakage of oil or any other substance from your Vehicle.

Use of our Car Park facilities for commercial purposes is not permitted without the permission of Auckland Airport. You must not obstruct any persons or vehicles using the Car Park or park in any area marked “Reserved” or “No Parking”. Any Vehicle parked in a mobility bay must display a current mobility pass. Any Vehicle parked in a space marked “Hybrid and fuel efficient cars only” must be a hybrid vehicle or have an engine capacity of 1.6 litres or less. We reserve the right to move your Vehicle at any time to another parking space or remove and store your Vehicle, if required for the purposes of safety, expansion or redevelopment at Auckland Airport, the better operation of the Car Park. If we move a Vehicle, we will endeavour where possible to advise you of the move.

In the event that you breach any of these Terms and Conditions we may, at our sole discretion:

  • Enter the Vehicle; or
  • Move or remove and store a Vehicle (at all times at the owner’s risk).

No Vehicle will be released to the owner until all such costs associated with any of the above actions, along with any fees accrued on an hourly basis up to and including the time of removal for using our Car Park facilities, are paid in full.

Our Car Parks use a mix of ticket, credit/debit card and licence plate recognition access in order to enter and leave.

You can use the Pay Station before you get into your vehicle. Either enter your ticket or your licence plate number on the touchscreen at the Pay Station and follow the onscreen prompts to pay for your parking. You can pay with cash, EFTPOS, or credit card, then head straight to the exit.

You may also be able to pay directly at the exit barrier. Follow the onscreen prompts to pay with payWave or insert your credit card.

In the event of a lost or misplaced Car Park ticket, we may, at our discretion, either

  1. charge a lost ticket fee (as published on the tariffs board at the entrance to the relevant car park); or
  2. use licence plate recognition and CCTV surveillance systems to determine the parking charges payable in respect of your Vehicle. Our decision in this regard shall be final and binding. CCTV surveillance and Licence Plate Recognition software may be in operation in all car parks for security and operational monitoring purposes.

We may from time to time offer special promotions or limited offers for the use of our Car Parks. All promotions and offers are subject to the availability of parking spaces and may be withdrawn at any time without prior notice by us.

When you use our Car Park we may capture your licence plate and vehicle information through license plate recognition cameras. The information we collect assists us to manage and improve the operation of Auckland Airport including the Car Park areas. We use this information for measuring and analysing car parking use times and traveller behaviour, marketing purposes, security purposes and to assist you to locate available Car Parks and your Vehicle. By entering the Car Park, you consent to Auckland Airport collecting and using this information. If you do not provide us with this information, we may refuse to grant you entry into the Car Park. Auckland Airport will keep this information secure and treat this information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Our Privacy Policy contains information about how you can access and correct your personal information held by us, and how you can make a complaint regarding use of your information.

You must, whilst in the Car Park, comply with all its signs and with all directions and requests made by us. In particular, you must:

  • not cause any obstruction in the Car Park;
  • not park anywhere that we designate as a no parking or reserved area unless you are authorised by us to park in those areas;
  • not use the Car Park other than in accordance with the signage and markings in the Car Park and any instructions we may give you;
  • not use parking bays set aside for mobility impaired and/or disabled persons unless you are lawfully entitled to use these bays and you display clearly on the vehicle a current permit.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable to you whether in negligence, tort, contract or any other basis, whatsoever for any damages, liabilities, costs (including legal costs), arising from the use of the Car Park or associated services or in the exercise of our rights under these conditions.

You shall be liable for and agree to indemnify us from and against all losses and costs (including legal costs), damages or expenses arising out of a breach of these terms by You or in connection with the Vehicle, its accessories or contents including personal injury to or death of any person or any injury or damage to property except to the extent that such losses are directly caused by our negligence or wrongful act or omission.

You agree that Auckland Airport has a contractual lien in respect of the vehicle and all goods in or attached to the vehicle for all fees due in respect of the vehicle under these terms and conditions. Auckland Airport may (at its discretion) exercise the lien in respect of any fees due and unpaid and may retain the vehicle and/or goods and serve written notice on the owner of the vehicle requiring immediate payment of the fees. If the fees have not been paid within 21 days of Auckland Airport serving written notice on the owner, sell the vehicle and /or the goods in the vehicle by auction or otherwise and the proceeds may be applied to or in satisfaction of the lien. If after deduction of all monies owing to Auckland Airport, including the expenses of sale, there is a surplus balance of sale proceeds, such proceeds shall be paid to the owner of the vehicle upon presentation of satisfactory proof of ownership.

We reserve the right to vary these terms and conditions from time to time at our sole discretion.

Personal information you provide to us in connection with the use of any Car Park, including, without limitation, your name, address, licence plate number, and credit/debit card information, is recorded by or for us and may be passed between us, our subcontractors and third party agencies in order to provide our Car Park facilities, conduct marketing activities and research, or to facilitate the operation of the Car Parks. When you provide personal information to us in connection with your use of the Car Park facilities, you are deemed to have consented to the collection, storage, disclosure and use of such personal information by us in the manner described in these terms and conditions and our Privacy Policy. We will always comply with the Privacy Act 2020 and any other applicable New Zealand laws.

Definitions

Auckland Airport means the Auckland Airport precinct located at Mangere, New Zealand.

Car Park means each car parking space controlled by us at Auckland Airport.

we, us, our means Auckland International Airport Limited.

Vehicle means any vehicle parked (or to be parked) in a Car Park and includes any mechanical device on wheels or tracks, its equipment and accessories.
